On top of Dale Head in the Lake District we came across a pair of British Tortoiseshell butterflies. At least I think that's what they are.I can only imagine they were opportunistic visitors because they didn't look suitably well prepared for the normal conditions up there. One of them stayed still just long enough to get its photograph taken.
