Staithes
I finally got a photographic dip with my new camera. I used my Olympus 5060 on full auto and an Ikelite DS 51 strobe set to TTL.

Greenends Gulley, Eyemouth
My more capable camera let me down (again!) so it was down to my faithful Olympus 1030 and Sea and Sea strobe. A recurring problem is that the cameras own strobe illuminates the particles in front of the lens by passing through the polycarbonate housing and causing backscatter. The external strobe is on a short flexi arm and hence quite close to the lens thus exacerbating the backscatter. The best shots of the day were close to the surface with the strobe turned off and plenty of ambient light. I should have turned the shoot mode to macro to sharpen the image. You live and learn.

Capenwray
I visited the inland dive site with my eldest daughter today. The camera is our trusted Olympus 10.1 mp camera with a Sea and Sea digital strobe. Because the strobe is quite close to the lens and the camera strobe (which slaves the external strobe via a fibre optic connection) illuminates through the polycarbonate housing back scatter is always a problem. I tried to eliminate this by shooting towards the light without the strobe when I could.
